Peak Organic “Pomegranate Wheat Ale” Celebrates Delicious Ingredients and Sustainable Resource Management

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Portland, ME – June 15, 2009 — Peak Organic Brewing, producers of gourmet, certified organic ales, is collaborating with local farmers and non-profits to create a complex, yet refreshing Pomegranate Wheat Ale.

“Our Pomegranate Wheat Ale is a celebration of tasty, local ingredients” said Jon Cadoux from Peak, a passionate craft beer brewer. “As foodies, we’ve always appreciated artisanal, locally sourced products so we partnered with a local organic wheat farmer. It’s a win-win because the wheat is superb in quality and supports the local economy”, said Geoff Masland from Peak. “We feel like this is more than just a delicious craft beer, but also a positive experience from start to finish, farm to glass” said Masland.

The Pomegranate Wheat Ale is brewed with organic coriander and a touch of organic pomegranate and organic açaí juice from Sambazon (www.sambazon.com) . “We are excited to work with our friends at Sambazon, who source incredible açaí and use their business model as a vehicle to promote sustainable management of the Amazon Rainforest”, said Cadoux. “Their initiative, “The Sustainable Amazon Partnership” (www.sustainableamazonpartnership.org), does amazing work to benefit the environment and the communities in the Amazon; we are honored to be raising awareness for it.”

“We believe that through collaboration with likeminded partners, we can continue to promote organics and advance our efforts to preserve the Amazon,” said Sambazon VP Marketing, Jeremy Black.

“The business community has a long way to go in terms of environmental stewardship, ourselves included. But we enjoy partnering with organizations that are focused on taking the right steps”, commented Cadoux.

The Pomegranate Wheat Ale has a soft, round mouthfeel from the local, un-malted wheat. The spice from the coriander and the subtle sweetness from the Pomegranate and Acai are a perfect complement, making this beer refreshing, yet complex.

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

Portland, ME – Sept. 28, 2008 — Peak Organic Brewing, producers of gourmet, certified organic ales, is collaborating with like-minded small businesses and non-profits to create a delicious Espresso Amber Ale.

“Our Espresso Amber Ale is a celebration of tasty, local ingredients and organic, fair trade practices,” said Jon Cadoux from Peak, a passionate craft beer brewer. “As foodies, we’ve always appreciated hand-crafted coffee roasters, so we jumped at the opportunity to work with our friends down the street at Coffee By Design, who craft amazing coffee. We feel like this is more than just a delicious craft beer, but also a positive experience from start to finish, farm to glass” said Geoff Masland from Peak.
The Espresso Amber Ale is brewed with Maine-roasted, organic fair trade espresso in collaboration with Coffee By Design (www.coffeebydesign.com). The beer is in partnership with Transfair, a non-profit that works to ensure that farmers and farm workers behind Fair Trade Certified™ goods are paid fair, above-market prices, helping to support a better life for farming families, community development and environmental stewardship (www.fairtradecertified.org). Peak Organic Espresso Amber Ale is the first Fair Trade Certified™ beer brewed in the United States.
“Having two local companies collaborate on a delicious product with a strong social purpose is a pleasure and a win-win for all,” said Coffee By Design co-owner, Alan Spear.

“The business community has a long way to go in terms of environmental stewardship, ourselves included. But we enjoy partnering with organizations that are focused on taking the right steps”, commented Cadoux.

The Espresso Amber Ale is a flavorful, robust ale with toasty notes from the espresso in the front palate that delicately compliment the sweeter notes from the malts in the back palate. Said Cadoux, “we have been working on this ale for a long while now and we are proud of the final product.”
